When Linda Arnold—known to the wellness community as DevaSonic—walked the grounds of Humankind in Sedona, her first stop was the stupa. She circled it in traditional Buddhist fashion, arriving in the red rock landscape through ritual and reverence. That same contemplative energy would soon fill the room as she offered her first Sedona presentation: an Ethereal Sound Voyage that wove together her years as a multi-genre musician with her calling toward meditative sound.

"I've made all kinds of music in my life," she told the room at the opening. "Dance music, electronic music, piano music, singer-songwriter. But, you know, I found a home in meditative sounds."

What Is a Hybrid Sound Experience?

DevaSonic doesn't offer a traditional sound bath. She calls her work a "hybrid experience"—part sound healing, part artistry, part journey. Participants can choose to receive the session lying in shavasana or sitting upright; there's no prescription for how to be present. "What I'm trying to create is this little hybrid experience," she explained. "Sound is the sound healing aspect to listening and receiving. And then also giving you a little bit of the artistry of what I do. And how I weave together all these sounds."

The session began with a clearing meditation led by Lisa, a collaborator DevaSonic met during her week at Humankind. "When I go to a new place, I always like to see somebody who can jump on stage that's around," she said, embodying the collaborative spirit of the sound wellness community. From there, the room moved into vocal toning—an invitation to "tune the room together with our voices" by singing a single note all the way out on the breath.

How Does Sacred Mantra Meet Modern Sound Design?

The heart of the journey was Om Mani Padme Hum, the Buddhist compassion mantra. DevaSonic pointed to the neon lotus glowing behind her, to the stupa visible through the window. "One of the most important Buddhist compassion mantras, Om Mani Padme Hum, is such a wonderful thing to do anytime," she offered. The chanting filled the space—live voices layered with DevaSonic's electronic textures, amplified sound meeting ancient intention.

For an extended passage, the room became pure vibration—participants either surrendered in stillness or allowed micro-movements as sound washed through. DevaSonic wove together what she called "all of the etherealness, the groundedness, the nature sounds, the affirmations, the mantras." It was electro-acoustic ceremony, a 21st-century temple built from frequency and faith.

Humankind's space proved ideal for her work. "A place like this is perfect," she noted. "We've got some vibe going on. We've got some lighting. We've got some amplified sound. And we can do a little bit of experimenting."

What Healing Frequencies Close the Circle?

As the voyage neared its end, DevaSonic gently called participants back from deep meditation. "Start to bring your awareness back to your breath," she guided. "You may begin to break a movement into the body." But rather than ending in silence, she offered one more gift: the healing mantra Ra Ma Da Sa, set to rhythm and pulse.

The room integrates sound, movement, and healing intention

"We are sending healing energies out into the world where they are needed, which is many places," she said. "So when we say Ra Ma Da Sa, we're bringing in that healing energy quality." The room began to move—stretching, integrating, embodying the journey they'd just traveled together through all the textures DevaSonic had layered with intention.

This was her first time sharing her work in Sedona, but the artist name she's carried for "many, many years" felt at home beneath the red rocks. She honored the lineage of sound healers who'd held space at Humankind before her, naming Cheryl from Grit and Grace Meditation as part of a community "all linked by this love of sound and this love of listening."
