Chakra Tones and Sedona's Rock Beings: Thunderbeat on Upgrade 101

On this episode of Upgrade 101, The Foundation for the New You, host Leilani Cline opens with the breath and ends with the rocks. In between she sits down with Thunderbeat, a Sedona intuitive reader, sound healer and author whose work grew out of a drum kit and a night spent inside the Great Pyramid.

How do you clear the throat chakra and third eye?

The show starts as a practice session. Cline, who says she has given more than 160 retreats in eight countries, focuses this episode on two energy centers, the throat chakra and the third eye. For the throat she teaches a technique she attributes to Himalayan Kriya Yoga: two fingers pressed firmly at the throat, back near the ears, a full inhale through the nose, and a sharp exhale pushed out through a rolled tongue. Five rounds. She frames it as both a physical clearing and a release of whatever you wanted to say that day and did not.

For the third eye she guides a pyramid-shaped hand position, index fingers touching at the brow, with a pattern of five-second inhales and exhales, then breaths through the mouth and nose, ending with a held breath. Her advice for viewers is simple. Pick one meditation from the series, not all of them. Do it five minutes a day, and after three days build to eleven. "Consistency is the key," Cline says. Then comes the guest. Cline tells how she found Thunderbeat in 2020: a vision of an Egyptian-looking woman the night before, and the same face in a spiritual magazine the next morning. She called and booked a session, and the two have been friends since.

Why does each chakra have its own musical key?

Thunderbeat's story begins in eighties rock and roll. She played a full drum set and later taught drumming at music stores and schools. In the nineties she became curious about how a single musical key changes how a person feels, and she started testing keys on herself and others before she had ever heard the phrase sound healing.

In 1997 she traveled to Egypt and spent a night inside the Great Pyramid with a group. She says her guides told her to bring her drum. While the others went downstairs she played, and she describes receiving a message from Archangel Gabriel repeated over and over: color, light, sound, and seven as the sacred number. She took it to mean that each of the seven chakras has its own activating tone, an idea she had not seen on any recording at the time.

Back home in her studio she began the album that became Chakra Journey. The root chakra came through in the key of C, and then, she says, the work stalled for four years. Other albums recorded fine. That one would not. The day after September 11, 2001, she says the go-ahead came, and the album was finished quickly. She credits the source plainly: "Gabriel gave me the keys."

A chakra book followed, which Thunderbeat says was prompted by Thoth, a guide she has worked with for years. It pairs each center with a key, an animal totem and a planet. For the throat, the pair discuss the color blue, the hawk and Mercury. Thunderbeat's practical claim is that sound clears what people store in each center. Clear the throat and, in her words, the fear that blocks speaking your truth goes with it. She also describes each chakra as a doorway to a different psychic sense, with the throat tied to hearing guidance and the third eye tied to seeing it.

Is there ancient Egypt in Sedona's red rocks?

The last third of the show turns to the landscape. Thunderbeat, who says she is half Native and learned from a shaman uncle to see the rocks as the ancient ones, has spent about twenty years documenting what she calls ancient Egypt in Sedona. She describes a sphinx facing east like the one in Giza, eight sphinxes found so far out of thirteen she was told exist, and formations she reads as gods, goddesses, kings and dragons. The project is now a book and a two-hour in-person tour. "Rocks move a little slower, but they're still alive," she says.

Cline offers the tour and the retreats as a pair of glasses, a way to see what was always there. For anyone at home, the takeaways are concrete: one five-minute daily breath practice, a chakra recording you can play through from start to finish, and a habit of sitting on the ground somewhere you feel called and simply putting your hands down.
